About Alternative-Finder.com

Our directory is designed to help businesses to be found more easily on the internet, via search engines. A couple big benefits of being listed here are:
1) Being found in a directory that is pertinent to your business, business type, and city that you serve.
2) Getting a valuable backlink from a trustworthy site that is pertinent and passing Citation Flow and Trust Flow to your website.

Understanding Backlinks, Trust Flow, and Citation Flow

Hey there, kiddo! Imagine the internet is like a huge playground where websites are kids playing games. Some kids (websites) want to be the most popular so everyone notices them first. That’s what ranking high in search engines like Google means—being at the top of the list when someone searches for something fun, like “best ice cream recipes.”

But how do websites get popular? One big way is through backlinks. A backlink is like when another kid points to you and says, “Hey, that kid over there is awesome!” It’s a link from one website to yours. Search engines see these as votes saying your site is cool and helpful.

Now, not all votes are the same. That’s where Citation Flow and Trust Flow come in. These are like scores that help measure how good those backlinks are. (A company called Majestic made these scores to help grown-ups check website popularity.)

  • Citation Flow is like counting how many kids are pointing at you. It measures the number of backlinks. If lots of websites link to yours, your Citation Flow goes up. It’s like having a ton of friends shouting your name—it shows you’re getting noticed a lot! But remember, it’s mostly about quantity, not if those friends are super nice.
  • Trust Flow is smarter. It’s like checking if those pointing kids are trustworthy and kind. This score looks at the quality of the backlinks. If links come from really good, honest websites (like a teacher’s site or a famous library), your Trust Flow is high. But if they come from sneaky or bad sites, it stays low. Trust Flow helps make sure your “friends” are the real deal.

Why do we care about these? Because good backlinks—especially relevant ones—help your website climb higher in search results. Relevant means the linking site is about the same stuff as yours. Like if your site is about puppies, a link from a dog training site is perfect, but one from a car repair site? Not so much.

Here’s why relevant backlinks are like magic for ranking higher:

  • They’re like strong votes: Search engines think, “If a puppy expert links to this site, it must know puppies too!” This makes your site look more important.
  • They bring more friends: Good backlinks can send real visitors to your site, like kids following the pointers to play with you.
  • They build trust: Over time, having high Trust Flow and balanced Citation Flow tells search engines you’re safe and smart, so they show you to more people.
  • They beat the competition: If your site has better backlinks than others, you win the popularity contest and get seen first.

In the end, building great backlinks is like making true friends on the playground—pick the right ones, and everyone wants to hang out with you! If you’re building a website, focus on creating awesome stuff that others want to link to naturally. That way, your scores go up, and you rank super high. Cool, right?

My Experience with Backlinks and Directories

I have worked on SEO for over 1000 websites. One thing that I learned early on is the importance of BACKLINKS from trusted sources. With a handful of solid backlinks, your website will move very quickly up the search engines and you’ll get more business for your company. I had one site that moved from Page 5 of the search results in Google to the #1 spot on Page 1 in less than a month by simply getting 3 really good and trusted links back to the website. This increased the number of leads calling into this business from one or two per month, to then start getting an average of 132 calls per month! Can you imagine what an extra 132 people calling your office, looking for exactly the services you offer?

When I found directories that could share a link to my website, I found NONE that were aimed directly at my category of business. But putting my website link on a handful of these still worked! But what works better is if they have other similar businesses grouped together by geography or business category.

So, we tore down and rebuilt Alternative-Finder.com

This site existed and had been around for a while. I decided to buy it and keep its original purpose (to create a directory of alternative healthcare advocates and practitioners), but to improve the heck out of it.

I hope you’ll join us on this journey and to take advantage of this directory to get more clientele for your business or practice.

What’s next?

Our next step will be to add an Article Section where anyone who is listed in the directory can add an article in the form of a blog post. This will give you the opportunity to speak as an expert on Health & Wellness and link back again to your website. Look for this feature to be in place in early October 2025.

Well, thanks for reading this and I hope that it answers any questions you may have about why we’re doing this and the benefits to you. If you want to chat about anything, please feel free to text me at (775) 544-1112.

All the best,
